Care and Treatment of People with Developmental Disabilities and Challenging Behaviours
I was involved over the past 2 years in a project with the Community Networks of Specialized Care in Ontario to develop consensus guidelines for the care and treatment of people with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviours. I was both project manager and editor of the guidelines. The work involved cooperating with a more than 50 experts and clinicians from all fields, and consulting more than 500 people involved in community-based developmental services in Ontario and abroad. The guidelines have been released in September and are available on the Community Networks of Specialized Care website (http://www.community-networks.ca). You can also access the guidelines on our Publications page.
Alain Dupont and I offer clinical supports to specialized residential services for people with severe behaviour challenges, in Canada and in Geneva Switzerland. We coach staff in better understanding the people they support. The services we offer are both in person and through videoconferencing.
